Diet Update

December 29th, 2009

We’ve almost made it through the holidays. Just two days to go! It’s honestly been a struggle diet wise too. We started off the season decently enough, but as we got closer to Christmas we both started to drift. Then this last week… ouch.

Being on the road and spending so much time with family was really tough on the diet. So many traditions are built around eating. It’s not exactly easy from a social standpoint to decline… and from a realistic point of view… passing on cookies and hot chocolate for carrot sticks and water isn’t something we wanted to do.

The damage wasn’t massive. Overall, we are both up a few pounds in December. But, for the year… as a couple… we lost 25 pounds. We’re extremely happy with that, and have now lost weight 3 years running.

Do need to get back on track though, and not December’s habits become the new trend. We normally like to suggest starting a healthy eating plan NOW, and not waiting for some special day… like New Year’s… to do it. But since it is (almost) New Years… we’re all for starting then!

So, we have our goals and rules sent for the new year… and the new decade… and the focus is going to be reaching our goal weights by this time next year. We’re both enthusiastic about it too.

Happy New Year!

Friends Update

Carye: The holiday season is a busy time, but for many of us… it at least comes with a break from work. Not so for Carye. In fact, things actually get busier at work for her. That really makes finding time for diet things a challenge. Carye has managed though, and was actually down 0.7 pounds this last week. That is awesome!

Carye tells us she’s looking forward to the new year and continuing to work towards her diet goals. We wish her lots of success… and good luck in 2010.

_____

Jean: Jean had a fun time with her family up north. Things can sometimes get a bit stressful for her up there, but that wasn’t the case this trip… which was certainly good te hear. From a rules perspective, Jean was a good girl. She had a little bit of an issue drinking enough water, but overall she did a good job. She was right on top of diet and testing, which can be tough to do on the road.

Jean got home safe and sound and is resting up from the trip. Things are looking good headed into 2010… and we’re really looking forward to an excellent year.

_____

Courtney: Courtney didn’t have a good Christmas on the diet front… which we totally understand. Her family’s tradition is to make holiday candy. Would be better if it were something like… running a 10k or picking apples… lol, but it never seems to work that way. It’s always something naughty like cookies, pie or candy.

The good news is, Courtney is ready for the new year and the fresh start it brings. Santa was very nice to her too. He gave her an exercise bike, which is going to be a big help. Cool gift and it should be a big help.
