Roundtable Wrap-Up

February 28th, 2010

What should happen to Tony Kornheiser? What do you think of Hannah Storm’s outfit? What do you think of “catholic school plaid skirts” when it comes to spanking? Do you (or your spankee) own one?

This week’s topic wasn’t directly related to spanking, but it was in the news recently… and certainly clothes do play a role in spanking for many spankos. Had fun with this one and a big thank you to everyone that took the time to share.

Let’s start things by taking a look at the Quick Response Poll results.

What should happen to Tony Kornheiser?
Nothing. ~ 39%
Verbal reprimand. ~ 43%
Suspension. ~ 4%
Fired. ~ 0%
Something else. ~ 13%

Well, not many agree with the suspension that Tony Kornheiser actually ended up getting. We’re guessing that our readers tend to be a bit more relaxed than most so that might have something to do with it. Still though, the largest number did think a slap on the wrist (or perhaps elsewhere) was called for.

To get a better insight into the topic we move to this week’s comments. Enjoyed these very much.

It’s a bit of a touchy situation, though, because of the possibility of the comment being taken as “sexual harassment.” As a working female myself, I know that I can take ANYTHING from a glance that completely missed my eyes, to a casual comment, to a pat on the shoulder, and start screaming sexual harassment, and it’s gonna be called in my favor. (Not that I’d ever do that, of course!) That’s just how things work in today’s day and age.

Being a major network, ESPN probably can’t afford to have ANYTHING approaching “inappropriate” on the air. While Kornheiser might be known for his sense of humor, getting laughs at the expense of ANYONE else, in the end, really isn’t funny, and had Storm chosen to throw the sexual harassment card, this could have ended very, very badly.

Now, personally, I think he should have gotten a verbal reprimand. While inappropriate, to a degree, he truly meant no harm. Storm didn’t take NEARLY as much offense as she could have, and it’s been played off between the two of them. I see nothing wrong with Storm’s outfit, although it is DEFINITELY not my style. Anything with the word “skirt” in it, and I run. Add a religious affiliation, and I’m SOOO gone.

J/k….. That’s not the real reason. I just don’t like short, preppyish skirts of any kind, and I abhor skirts on a whole. So, to answer your question, I do NOT own a Catholic school girl skirt.

I think they’re very popular in the scene, and will continue to be so. Catholic schools were well known for their rather liberal use of corporal punishment, as were British boarding schools, which is actually were I think the trend toward “short skirt, button up blouse, long socks, and shiny black shoes” came from. . . . . . not necessarily Catholic, but “school girl” on whole. That’s an entirely different topic, though. Long story short, it doesn’t matter what I think about the topic, because it’s a long standing spanko tradition, and I believe it will continue to be so.

~It’s hard to know what Hannah Storm *really* thinks. Complaining is a no-win situation. Can’t think she was happy with the attention this brought her. She certainly could have made this worse on Kornheiser had she wanted to though. Agree too that it really wasn’t a “Catholic” skirt as much as it was “school girl.”~

He should have been given permission by the ESPN sports station, to bend Hannah over a gym horse, raise her so called ‘catholic school girl outfit waist high, and pull down her panties to around her ankles and apply a pliable stinging cane to her bare bottom. This scene should have been shown world wide, so that Hannah Storm’s corporal punishment would be an example of her painfull humiliation.

~Wonder what the ratings would be for a spanking like that… lol. We’d certainly tune in!~

munchkin said: I really wouldn’t have described that as “catholic (or otherwise) school girl skirt” anyway. To me, a plaid schoolgirl skirt is flippy…..for easy spanking access, duh. And I have several.

I think since she seemed to pretty much take it in stride, then they should just drop it, rather than making a bigger spectacle over the incident than it would have been on it’s own. Especially in a sports network, in my opinion, if the women want to be taken as equals there they should be able to take some ribbing, just as the guys would do to each other over things like clothes. As long as it doesn’t turn overtly sexual in nature, there should be no whining in sports. Though I will say he should lay off the age references, any man should know that is a sensitive subject to a lot of women. And I will say though I found the outfit unattractive I don’t think she’s “too old” for it at all.

~Given that Kornheiser’s is 15 years older than Storm… and he does try to be hip… yea, he probably she lay off the age thing.~

pixie said: I’m not really familiar with Tony so it’s hard for me to judge if his comments were truly intended to be hurtful or funny (and just missed the mark). The suspension is fair, but I wouldn’t want to see him fired. He made a mistake and went too far. Perhaps he ought to do his next broadcast in a catholic school skirt to show that he is able to roll with the punches.

Hannah’s outfit was a bit bright for my personal taste, but I love plaid and I think boots can dress it up and make a schoolgirl skirt look a little more grown up and appropriate. Black ones might have been a tad better but otherwise I think it looks ok. The skirt isn’t too short and by God there is nothing wrong with plaid!

I have a ton of plaid skirts. Some are super short and just for fun and shoots, some are mid-length but still not something I’d wear regularly, and then there are those that reach just above my knee that I wear as every day wear (think office casual). True schoolgirl pleated plaids though are just for play.

~Think you’re dead-on about the boot color. Didn’t think of that until you mentioned it, but that would have been a big help. And yes… nothing wrong with plaid!~

Suzy Says: I think Tony is a wee bit uptight to say the least and I think he should have to give a more appropriate public apology (him merely comparing his bad looks to his insult of her isn’t quite what I’d accept). I loved Pixie’s idea of having him wear a school ’shirt’ but let’s add an original complete school boys outfit ‘trousers that go mid calf, crossed overall straps, etc…” and then have him express the fact that no matter what they wear or how old they are wearing it, it’s not up to them to judge. Afterall this isn’t the catwalk at a fashion show, this is ESPN for sports sake ;)

Her outfit is fine.. I think it’s a bit too much red .. maybe another deeper color for the shirt or boots would be less stand-out-ish. The skirt is acceptable for a public setting and nothing so outlandish as to write home about. I wouldn’t have even thought of it as the typical “schoolgirl skirt” had they not made such a big deal over it.

I think the pleated, mild colored plaid blue and gray, school girl skirts are the most authentic looking and I think they look great in a spanking setting along with the role play and they also look fine on ’some’ women even in a public scene. Kinda doing the ’sassy and cute’ look works on some ladies. While I can appreciate the look, I don’t really think it works on me (in my opinion) so while I have worn a friends school girl skirt and it was fun doing the role play and all, I don’t have a school girl skirt of my own.

Skirts in general do make getting spanked much easier so the flip up factor in the spanking scene with a school girl skirt is nice. However, there is something to be said for the rebellious, jean clad, tshirt wearing, gum chewing, truant school girl spanking too ;)

Todd Says: I’m not a big fan of Hannah Storm’s outfit, and I think Pixie hit on the reason… the red boots are a touch too much. Black would have been better. I do think the skirt was cute though and certainly don’t have ANY problem with a 47 year old woman wearing it. I think women should wear what makes them feel good… because confident and happy women of any age look the best. Those boots were too red though, lol.

As for Tony Kornheiser, I do think he crossed the line. The “she looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body” was especially too much. He does make fun of his own bald head and bad looks though, so I really do believe he was just trying to be funny. A verbal reprimand would likely have been enough. It also would have kept this from becoming the wider story it did.

And I do like skirts… plaid or otherwise… for spankings. Actually like jeans a bit more. The ritual of taking them down works better. But skirts have their place too, and they certainly are fun for quick spur of the moment spankings.

All the pictures in this week’s Roundtable Wrap-up post come from Dallas Spanks Hard. Long been a favorite of ours. Dallas really does a great job. Lovely girls and good old fashioned hard discipline hand spankings.

Tony is a sarcastic- styled comedian & I think he’s very good at what he does. I like his PTI show on ESPN & I am not even a sports fan. When my friends & I see a woman of Hannah Storm;s age out dressed like she was we say “She’s trying wayyyyy too hard.”

I doubt Tony Kornheiser reads spanking blogs but I think he would find it humorous that he was being discussed on one.

Btw, there’s a backstory here in that ESPN has had a lot of problems with sexual harassment so they may have felt they had to take some action.
